Abstract

This study focused on examining the effect of parent-child music interactions during the COVID-19 pandemic on parent-child relationships, parents’ subjective well-being, and parenting self-efficacy in families with school-aged children having Down syndrome (DS). Employing an explanatory sequential design, 62 parents from China completed a questionnaire survey, followed by semi-structured interviews conducted with 4 of these parents. Quantitative and qualitative data were analyzed to draw comprehensive insights significant positive correlations were observed among the study variables. Overall, this study underscores the effective role of parent–child music interactions for families having children with DS, particularly in special circumstances, carry meaningful implications.
